Viscount Malata Hawke was the eldest daughter of the apostate Malcolm Hawke and Leandra Amell. She was a blood mage who frequently stoked the flames of controversy in Kirkwall. Despite this, she was most famous for her role in ending a Qunari invasion, earning the moniker the Champion of Kirkwall. She was also the Princess of Starkhaven by marriage to Sebastian Vael, and the cousin of Vasher Amell.
Physical Appearance Edit
Malata Hawke took after her father, having raven hair and amber eyes. Her skin was prone to an unhealthy palor as a consequence of a life of blood magic, though she often hid it with make up.
Even as a child, Malata was a twisted and selfish individual, incapable of empathizing with the pain in others, but finding relish in it. Despite this, she still gathered followers anywhere she went by adopting a facade of a sarcastic and fun-loving girl. The only stabilizing force in her life was her father, Malcolm, whom she always wanted to please. Her repeated failures to fulfill his dying wish and keep the rest of the family safe drove her further into insanity.
Talents and Skills Edit
At a very young age, Malata became a blood mage, but even without resorting to it she was an exceptionally talented and unusually strong mage.
She was also an adept liar and manipulator, able to win friendships and loyalty despite her many crimes and atrocities.
Malata was born in 9:12 Dragon to the apostate Malcolm Hawke and Leandra Amell. Her magical talents were discovered early, and Malcolm took to training her. She absorbed his practical lessons, but was considerably less able to grasp his sense of morality and ethics. However, she feared and craved the approval of her father, and so she learned early to hide her lack of empathy from the world by masking her real thoughts and feelings through humor and sarcasm.
Learning Blood Magic Edit
When Malata was a young girl, Malcolm taught her about the dangers and changing natures of Spirits in an effort to teach her caution. Instead, she merely grew curious. To see what would happen, when she was alone, she bound a Spirit of Compassion into the body of an animal and torture it until it became a demon. She continued to torment the demon, until in a desperate plea, it promised to teach her blood magic if she would release it. Fascinated to learn the avenues of magic her father refused to teach, she accepted, and upon learning its secrets, she killed the demon.
