Garrett was born alongside his identical twin sister Marian in 9:07 Dragon.

In the beginning he sided with the Templars however defected during Act 3 seeing just how far gone they had became.
In The Fade[]
During the events of Here Lies the Abyss Garrett stayed behind due to his guilt and wanting his sister Marian to survive. He manged to survive and evade the Nightmare.
He speant the next four years alone in the fade fighting to survive.
